BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore attack Riley Cachelin has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.
Cachelin tallied 11 goals and three assists for 14 points in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears. The Westwood, Massachusetts native notched six goals, including the game-winner, to go along with an assist in an 18-3 season-opening victory over Wentworth. She added five goals, two assists and a pair of ground balls in an 18-7 win over Rhode Island College.
In 22 games over two seasons with the Bears, Cachelin has amassed 42 goals and 18 assists for 60 points.
The BSU women’s lacrosse team is competing in the MASCAC after spending 12 of the past 15 seasons in the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA). During that time, the Bears captured seven NEWLA Tournament titles, including each of the last five, and made four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
