Chrissy Semler was named the head coach of the Bridgewater State softball program in the summer of 2013. Semler is a 2006 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She also earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Bridgewater State in 2011.
In two seasons as head coach of the Bears, Semier has amassed a 52-29 (.642) overall record, including a stellar 22-6 (.786) record against MASCAC opponents.
In 2014, Semler guided the Bears to both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles as well as the program's first 30-win season (32-14) in 13 years. Bridgewater would capture the NCAA Division III Wellesley Regional championship before bowing to eventual national champion Tufts University in the Super Regional.
Semler most recently served as the head softball coach at Massasoit Community College for two seasons from 2012 to 2013. Taking over a team that won just two games in 2011, Semler guided the Warriors to an 11-15 record in 2012 and a 20-10 mark in 2013. The 2013 squad captured the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Region XXI Tournament championship, the program’s first since 1999.
Chrissy is the owner and head pitching instructor for Diamond Fastpitch, Inc. out of Raynham, providing group and private softball instruction in all areas of the sport. In addition she is also a licensed mental health counselor that works with athletes on performance psychology.
A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, Semler played high school ball at Avon High School as she was a four-year member of the varsity team as a starting second baseman and pitcher from 1998 to 2001. She also played for the Bay State Blaze Junior Olympic organization on the U14, U16 and U18 teams. Although recruited by several colleges including Bridgewater State, Chrissy was unable to play at the collegiate level due to a series of career-ending injuries.
An Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Bridgewater State, Semler presently resides in Bridgewater with her husband, Luke Klim. She is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and has an ACE Level 3 Certification through the Amateur Softball Association of America.
