Jennifer Shaw Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior third baseman Jennifer Shaw has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

Shaw batted .478 (11-23) with a double, three stolen bases, six runs and four RBI during the Bears’ eight-game spring break trip to Fort Myers, Florida and the Gene Cusick Collegiate Classic.

Shaw went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and run scored in a 3-1 setback to Franklin and Marshall, and 2-for-4 with a run in a 4-2 win over Albright.  The Brockton, Massachusetts native also went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in a 9-2 victory over Medaille and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, two stolen bases, a run and two RBI in a 6-5, eight-inning loss to Drew.

In 109 games over four seasons with the Bears, Shaw sports a career .386 (113-293) batting average which currently ranks fifth all-time in program history.  She also has 17 home runs, 23 doubles, 13 stolen bases, 72 runs scored and 83 RBI, and owns a .652 slugging percentage and .448 on base percentage.

Shaw earned All-MASCAC First Team honors in both her sophomore and junior seasons and was named the MASCAC Player of the Year in 2012.  She was also a Division III All-New England selection for three different organizations (ECAC, NFCA, NEISCA) in both 2011 and 2012.
