Brian Espinosa Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University sophomore Brian Espinosa has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Espinosa placed first in the long jump at the Tufts Snowflake Classic as he posted a mark of 23 feet, 0.75 inches (7.03 meters).  The Rehoboth, Massachusetts native also finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.13 seconds), while running a leg of the Bears’ runner-up 4 x 100-meter relay (42.54).

Espinosa and teammates Joseph Danner Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.), Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships in the 4 x 100.

During the indoor track and field season, Espinosa garnered All-ECAC and Division III All-New England honors in the 200-meter dash and long jump.  He already owns BSU individual indoor marks in both the long jump (22’9.00”) and 200 (22.17) as well as the 4 x 200 relay (1:29.45).

The outdoor season continues for Espinosa and the BSU men’s track and field team as the Bears travel to the campus of UMass Dartmouth on Saturday for the Corsair Classic.
