McPherson Breaks BSU Shot Put Mark to Lead Men's Track at ECAC Championships

TROY, N.Y. – Junior Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) shattered his owns school mark in the shot put to pace the Bridgewater State University men's track and field team during day two of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by RPI.

McPherson garnered All-ECAC honors as he recorded a second place toss of 54 feet, 11.25 inches (16.74 meters) to better his previous standard by two feet.  Top eight place-winners in each event earn All-ECAC accolades.

McPherson is currently ranked 13th nationally in the shot put as the top 20 advance to the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Bears' 4 x 800 relay team featuring juniors Aaron Landau (Millis, Mass.) and Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.), sophomore Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) and freshman Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) broke the school record and finished eighth at the meet with a time of 7:52.81.  They eclipsed the 2010 record of 7:57.57 set by Wahome, Mike Sukeforth, Bill Taft and Ryan D'Arcangelo.

The Bears finished 14th in the team standings with 20 points.  Bates won the men's team title with 61 points followed by Rowan (49 pts.) and Ramapo (40 pts.).
