Michael Caruso was named the Bears’ Director of Aquatics as well as the head coach for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in the summer of 2011.

Caruso is a 2002 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.  He also received a Master of Science of degree in Sports Management from Indiana State University in 2004.

Mike captained the Bridgewater State men’s swimming and diving team both his junior and senior seasons and was selected as the Bridgewater State Lee Harrington Unsung Hero Award winner for the 2000-2001 academic year.

Prior to returning to BSU, Mike spent six seasons from 2002 to 2008 as the head swimming and diving coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, and three years as the head swimming coach in the Town of Concord (Massachusetts) recreation program (Concord Otters).

While at Rose-Hulman, Mike coached two Division III All-Americans and two honorable mention All-Americans.  One of his swimmers, Matt Smith, won the national championship in the 100 breaststroke during the 2002-2003 season.  In each of his six seasons with the Fightin’ Engineers, Mike had at least one student-athlete provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.  He was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swim Coach of the Year for the 2007-2008 campaign.

Coach Caruso is a level four certified coach by the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA).  In 2003, he was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the ASCA for his outstanding coaching performance at Rose-Hulman.    

Mike presently resides in Weymouth, Massachusetts with his wife, Shannon.

Michael Crocker e is a 2010 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He swam on the BSU swimming and diving team for two years and served as captain of the team his senior season.

Upon graduating from Bridgewater, Mike continued to swim under Rich Axtell and the Minuteman Swim Club based in Lexington, Mass. He currently trains for the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and the 50 and 100 butterfly. Mike has competed for the club at various New England amateur meets, and also represented the organization at the 2011 Southern Pacific Zone Championships in Mission Viejo, California, placing second in the backstroke and third in the 50 and 100 freestyle. He is currently training for the 2012 United State Masters Swimming Spring Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina, the 2012 FINA World Masters Championships in Riccione, Italy and the 2012 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series.

Mike plans to utilize his vast training experience while coaching the Bears and places tremendous emphasis on stroke technique and development, starts, turns, and rigorous underwater work. His areas of specialty are sprint freestyle and sprint / mid-distance butterfly. He also hopes to assist Head Coach Mike Caruso in developing a sense of team pride, unity and dedication in each of the Bears’ swimmers this season.




Jennifer Jackson

Jennifer Jackson is entering her fourth season as the diving coach on the Bridgewater State swimming and diving teams.  Jennifer is a 2009 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science.

A native of Randolph, Massachusetts, Jennifer competed on the BSC women's swimming and diving team for four seasons and was a diving captain on the team during her junior and senior years.  She set and still holds four of the five BSC diving records for the one-meter and three meter boards.   

In 2007, Jennifer captured the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) event championship on the one-meter board and placed second on the three-meter.  The following season, she placed first on the three-meter board and finished third on the one-meter. For her outstanding performance at the NEISDA Division II & III Championships, Jennifer was named the Diver of the Meet as well as the Senior High Point Diver.

Coach Jackson presently resided in her hometown of Randolph and is a Customer Service and Cash Office Representative at Bob's Stores in Randolph.




Emily Manion

Emily Manion is in her third season as assistant coach for the BSU Swimming and Diving coaching staff. A native of Attleboro, Massachusetts Emily was a member of the swimming, basketball and tennis teams at Bridgewater State as well as a 2003 graduate.

Emily has taught K-12 Physical Education and Health, as well as coached varsity swimming, basketball and tennis at various public high schools in Massachusetts from 2002 to 2007.

Coach Manion presently resides in Plymouth where she is a middle school Health and Physical Education teacher in the Plymouth Public School system. She has also served as a board-member for the Hyannis –Bridgewater Physical Education Alumni Association at Bridgewater State since 2003.
