BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior swimmer Sullivan Cohen has been named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District One NCAA Division III Men’s At-Large Team.  Cohen now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.

Cohen, who hails from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, graduated Summa Cum Laude this past weekend with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration in Global Studies and a minor in Economics .  He wrapped up a brilliant academic career at BSU with a perfect 4.0 grade point average as he was a three-time Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Winter All-Academic Team selection.

In the pool, Sullivan qualified for the 2013 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships in five events this past season, the 50 and 100 butterfly as well as the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke.  He and his teammates were also honored by NEISDA with the Steve Looke Sportsmanship Award.

Cohen has volunteered with organizations such as Friends and Mentors for Change, the BSU chapter of Free the Children and the BSU Social Justice League.  He has also participated in many other events and organizations which educate and raise awareness about social issues.

During his time at Bridgewater State, Sullivan was also a member of the Bridgewater State Task Force to End Homelessness.  Through the task force, BSU students assisted local service providers in the annual Point-In-Time count which tabulated the local number of homeless persons in shelters and on the streets at a single point in time.
