BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman midfielder Robson Montrond has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
Montrond helped Bridgewater State capture the MASCAC Tournament title this past weekend as he scored a goal in the Bears' 5-3 championship game victory over top-seeded Framingham State University. In the come-from-behind win over the Rams, Montrond found the back of the net in the 54th minute to knot the score at 3-3.
In 16 games this season, including two starts, Montrond has collected three goals and one assist for seven points.
Montrond, who is one of four Bears' to garner MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades this season, also earned the honor back on September 3rd and October 15th.
The BSU men's soccer team is currently 11-7-1 on the season. By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championships, the Bears will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the sixth time in program history and first since 2015.
