BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior defender Janet Maher has been selected as the Little East Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
Maher anchored an outstanding defensive effort last week as the Bears went 2-0 and posted back-to-back shutouts over Little East foes Salem State (6-0) and Southern Maine (4-0). The BSU defense allowed just seven shots on goal over the two games.
In four season with the Bears, Maher has appeared in 55 games and started 54. The Mansfield, Massachusetts product has five defensive saves to her credit to go along with two goals and two assists.
The BSU field hockey team is currently a perfect 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Little East. The Bears host non-conference foe Wellesley College on Tuesday night at seven.
