Michael McCarthy joined the BSU football coaching staff in 2015 and serves as the quarterbacks coach. He was also a student assistant on the staff in 2014. McCarthy grew up on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts where he was the starting quarterback for MVRHS. As a senior he was named captain as well as league MVP, and earned both Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors. Michael then went on to become a four-year starter and all-conference player at Bridgewater State. He wrapped up a brilliant collegiate career as the Bears' all-time leader in passing yards (4,672), pass completions (361) and total offense (7,478 yds). He also finished with 2,806 rushing yards (3rd all-time), 41 passing touchdowns (3rd all-time) and 42 rushing touchdowns (2nd all-time). Mike graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education with a Teacher Licensure. He then went on to play overseas for the Geneva Seahawks in Switzerland in the spring of 2015. Mike currently resides in Plymouth, Massachusetts and teaches Physical Education at Norton High School.
