BSU Staying Afloat Together

"Staying Afloat Together" Cardboard Boat Races introduces....
A collaborative event between
Campus Recreation and the Office of Institutional Diversity.

Why are we proposing this activity?
Research studies state that participation in recreational activities has many benefits
(NIRSA pdf).  This event promotes various students working together towards a fun, interesting project. In addition, the race theme of "staying afloat together" offers the campus another way to think, talk and work together to support BSU's commitment to diversity and social justice.

What are Cardboard Boat Races?       Download a flyer (pdf)

Teams of 4-6 members build a boat that fits 2 people made out of only cardboard and duct tape!  Then in an atmosphere of support, cheering, prizes being given (you get the picture – it is fun!), the teams paddle across the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

Paddles and life jacket will be provided
