Tryouts for Summer 2012
DAYTONA, Fla. – The Bridgewater State University club cheerleading squad captured the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All Girl Division III title at the national championship meet in Daytona, Florida.
The Bears, under the direction of Head Coach Jason Manhart, posted a score of 9.265 points out of a possible ten to win the title. The 9.265 points also marked the highest score in program history.
The NCA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships took place at the Band Shell, Ocean Center and Peabody Auditorium in Daytona from April 6 to April 10, and featured over 250 colleges and universities from around the country.
"It's a crowning achievement for the many veterans on the team to win this championship," said Manhart. "And it is a testament to how hard they worked this year."
"This was a great team with an even better chemistry and there's a lot of pure joy that came out of the this victory," Manhart added.
The Bridgewater State cheerleading team, which has been competing at nationals since 2006, placed third at last year’s championship meet and second the year before.
