The Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation assists the Director in directing and coordinating the development of athletics programs and for scheduling intercollegiate athletic events. He assists in supervising the BSU coaching staff as well as the student employee personnel assigned to Athletics and Recreation department.
Michael Storey has been involved with Bridgewater State Athletics since 1982 when he was hired as BSU's first ever Sports Information Director. During his tenure at BSU, Mike has been involved with all aspects of college athletics administration from intramurals and recreation to academic compliance.
Since 1998 Mike has been an Associate Director responsible for assisting the Director in coordinating 21 intercollegiate athletic programs. He is responsible for managing the athletic budget, scheduling home and away events, oversee the assigning of all officials for home contests, as well as arrange all meals, transportation, and accommodation needs for all away contests. Mike has also been the chairperson of the BSU Athletics Hall of Fame selection committee since 1993.
In addition to his duties at Bridgewater, Mike has been an active member of NACDA (1992-2007) and CoSIDA (1982-2002). He has served on numerous committees with the NCAA and ECAC including the NCAA Football Rules Committee (2000-2006) and the Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports Committee (2003-2006). He has served on ECAC sports selection committees for men's and women's soccer and men's basketball as well.
Mike is a graduate of Concordia University located in Montreal, Canada where he earned both his undergraduate (1978, Biology) and graduate (1980, Sports Administration) degrees. He also played football for the Stingers from 1974-79. Mike and his wife Laura have three children and currently reside in Halifax, MA.
