Ken Duarte came to Bridgewater State in 1993 as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and held that position until his retirement in 2005. He was hired as the Head Equipment Manager in 1996 taking over for Mike O’Neil. Over the past 20 years the Equipment Room has doubled in size as well as services offered.

In 2002 an Assistant Equipment Manger was added to the Athletics Staff to help with the growing needs of both the ER (Tinsley Center) and the Cage (Kelly Gym).

Ken is the BSU volleyball program’s all-time winningest coach.  He guided the Bears to a 269-177 (.603) record during his 12 year tenure including an incredible 71-1 (.986) Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season record.  The volleyball team captured the MASCAC title 11 straight years from 1995 to 2005 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of his last seven seasons (1999-2005).

Ken has two children Erin and Kerri, and four grandchildren, Madison, Gabriella, Deacon and Alex. He resides in Acushnet with his wife, Sharon.
